Jan: Whilst at Kathman, Tanase has been tempted to purchase the 3yo old stallion, ALEXSANDRO, dutch warmblood by Samba Hit (Sandro Hit-Brentano II) x Kennedy (Ferro) Tanase arrived home 22 Jan (without Alexsandro!). Her time in Europe has opened up many opportunities for her future riding career. She received so much positive support for her riding that it has made her feel optimistic that the dream and goal of one day competing at International competition IS achievable. Now, from -17deg to 40+deg and back into the grind!

Dec:
Tanase has moved to a barn in Germany. Away from the higher level,
elite horses to where it all commences. The babies at Kathman
Stallion Station at Vechta!

Traditional stallion station Kathmann is a well-known station in
Holtrup, Germany for foundation stallions like Akzent II, Freiherr,
Feiner Stern, Feinbrand and for young stallion champion Florencio
(double young dressage horse World Champion) Co-operating with the
Danish station "Blue Hors" (rider Andreas Helgstrand) and the Dutch
station "Team Nijhof", Ludwig Kathmann provides services to breeders
such as semen-conservation, insemination and shipping, raising of
young horses, breaking in and training of young horses, preparation
of mares for breed shows and stallions for the licensing. Coby has extended an invitation to Tanase to return to her beautiful stable and has even suggested she consider a long term stay to train and compete in Europe. Definitely food for thought for the future!
Nov: Tanase has arrived in the Netherlands and despite the cold is enjoying the privilege of lessons with one of the worlds top dressage riders. DVB is the home of Coby, Marlies and Marrigje van Baalen as well as all their pupils. Coby and Marlies van Baalen have been successful for years at the highest level of dressage and both have participated in the Olympic Games. DVB works closely with the world famous dressage trainer Johann Hinneman. Both Coby and Marlies are very interesting trainers who consistently concentrate on the same thing ..... working the horse from behind, through and over the back to encourage suppleness and impulsion. The absolute importance of straightness is repeatedly reaffirmed during Tanase's training sessions! Tanase has been given the ride on a 15 year old Grand Prix horse, Karachi. Karachi was purchased in 2007 from Britain’s Richard Davidson for Holland’s Elisa Swanenberg. Elisa was, at the time of purchase, training with Anky who was most impressed with Karachi’s “engine”. Tanase is writing about her travels for www.onthebit.com.au Nike Zuilhof, young rider from the Netherlands, has arrived to live and work at SSD until Christmas.
Oct: This month, in a 3 page spread, The Horse Magazine featured Tanase and WinterStern training with Stefan Wolff from the clinic held at Clemen’s place in April. Tanase was delighted when Christine Crawford asked if she would like to ride in the Princess Nathalie of Denmark clinic to be held in the Hunter Valley, one of only three clinics held in Australia. (read the full report featuring Tanase and Winterstern on www.onthebit.com.au)
Sept: WinterStern MEDIUM CHAMPION at Central Coast Dressage Championships.Lets Tango resumes competition after a two year break and finishes mid field in both tests. We have high hopes for Tango for next years competition. He is working so well at home, it is now just a matter of settling back into the competition world
June: A new addition to the team has arrived. Purchased from Joanna Soltys from Victoria. a 3 ½ yo unbroken mare, Raven. By Kaptain (imp by Belcam Qld) out of Revelwood Summertime (APH Speigel x tb). We will let her settle into her new surroundings, making sure she can lunge etc before sending her to Adam Sutton to be started under saddle.
May: WinterStern competed in the Sydney CDI 3* 6yo Young Horse Championships. Our aim was to get through to the second round as we are honest enough to know that WinterStern, although talented, is not an ideal YH candidate. We were ecstatic when he was placed 9th in the first round which put him into the second round!
April: WinterStern ELEMENTARY CHAMPION at Somersby Equestrian Club. A Stefan Wolff clinic was held at Clemens & Judy Dierks property in Arcadia. Winterstern participated in both clinics. An onlooker described him as a little ‘pocket rocket’ after a few days tutelage from Stefan. Rain managed to cause a venue swap mid clinic to Lesley-Anne Taylor’s beautiful indoor, which was very enjoyable.
Mar: Exciting news! It has been agreed that Tanase will go to Coby Van Baalen’s establishment in Holland from end of October 08 to Jan 09. Best pack the winter woollies!!! http://www.dressuurstalvanbaalen.nl (you will need to translate)
Feb: Horses back in work. Thankfully we did not get EI, but decided to turn the horses out for the duration.
